Publication Ethics

The Journal of Social Impact Studies (JSIS) is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability in scholarly publishing. Our ethical guidelines are based on internationally recognized frameworks, including those of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and other reputable publishing standards. These principles apply to all parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

Authorship and Contributions

  • Only individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the study should be listed as authors.

  • All authors must approve the final manuscript before submission and agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work.

  • Any changes to authorship after submission require the written consent of all authors and the approval of the Editor-in-Chief.

Originality and Plagiarism

  • Submissions must be the authors’ own original work and must not have been published previously or be under consideration by another journal.

  • All manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using reliable detection software. Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or unauthorized use of another’s work will result in immediate rejection or retraction.

Data Integrity and Transparency

  • Authors must ensure that their data is accurate, complete, and honestly reported.

  • Data fabrication, falsification, or selective omission of findings is strictly prohibited.

  • Authors should retain raw data for at least five years after publication and provide access to it upon reasonable request.

Conflicts of Interest and Funding Disclosure

  • Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence the interpretation of their work.

  • All funding sources and institutional support must be clearly stated.

Ethical Approval

  • Research involving human participants must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki and include informed consent.

  • Studies involving animals must follow recognized international guidelines for ethical treatment.

2. Responsibilities of Editors

  • Ensure fair, unbiased, and timely evaluation of all manuscripts.

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts and not use unpublished material for personal advantage.

  • Make publication decisions based solely on scholarly merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

  • Act promptly in response to suspected ethical breaches, following COPE guidelines.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback.

  • Maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and avoid sharing content without permission.

  • Disclose any conflicts of interest that could bias their judgment.

  • Decline to review if they lack the necessary expertise or cannot meet the review deadline.

4. Handling Misconduct

  • Allegations of plagiarism, falsification, redundant publication, authorship disputes, or other forms of misconduct will be investigated promptly.

  • Where misconduct is proven, JSIS may take actions including manuscript rejection, publication of corrections or retractions, and reporting to relevant institutions or funding bodies.

5. Post-Publication Responsibilities

  • If significant errors are discovered after publication, authors must promptly notify the editor so corrections or retractions can be issued.

  • The journal encourages post-publication dialogue, allowing readers to submit comments, critiques, or discussions on published works.
