Withdrawal Policy

The Journal of Social Impact Studies (JSIS) understands that authors may occasionally need to withdraw their manuscript after submission. However, manuscript withdrawal disrupts the editorial process and consumes significant resources, including time invested by editors and peer reviewers. Therefore, JSIS has established a transparent Withdrawal Policy to guide authors in making responsible decisions.

1. Acceptable Reasons for Withdrawal

Authors may request withdrawal under legitimate circumstances, including:

  • Discovery of substantial errors in data, analysis, or interpretation that affect the validity of the study.

  • Submission to JSIS made in error, such as simultaneous submission to multiple journals.

  • Ethical concerns regarding authorship, data collection, or conflicts of interest.

  • Other valid and documented personal or professional reasons.

2. Withdrawal Stages and Conditions

  1. Before Peer Review

    • Authors may withdraw their manuscript without penalty if the request is made before the manuscript is sent for peer review.

    • The withdrawal request must be submitted in writing by the corresponding author.

  2. During Peer Review

    • Withdrawal at this stage is discouraged, as editorial and reviewer time has already been invested.

    • If withdrawal is unavoidable, authors must provide a clear written explanation.

    • A withdrawal fee may be charged to cover administrative costs.

  3. After Acceptance but Before Publication

    • Withdrawal after acceptance is strongly discouraged.

    • All co-authors must provide signed consent for withdrawal.

    • A withdrawal fee will apply to compensate for the production costs already incurred (e.g., copyediting, typesetting, DOI registration).

  4. After Online Publication

    • Once an article is published online, withdrawal is no longer possible.

    • In cases of ethical breaches, major errors, or misconduct, JSIS will follow COPE retraction or correction guidelines rather than permitting withdrawal.

3. Withdrawal Procedure

  • The corresponding author must send a formal withdrawal request to the editorial office, including:

    • Manuscript ID and title.

    • Reason for withdrawal.

    • Signed approval from all authors.

  • The editorial office will confirm the decision in writing.

4. Ethical Considerations

  • Repeated or unjustified withdrawals by the same author(s) may result in sanctions, such as refusal of future submissions.

  • Withdrawing a manuscript to submit it to another journal without disclosure is considered unethical publishing behavior and may be reported to the author’s institution or funding body.
